Like all Bjorklunden seminars, registration is open to the public. My classes are geared toward adult learners of all ages and education levels. Anyone who enjoys wrestling with challenging works, uncovering the author's brilliance and then applying those insights to today’s culture should consider my seminars.
Classes meet once per week for 5 weeks. Classes are 90 minutes long.
Seminars are hosted via Lawrence University’s Bjorklunden platform. Pricing is set by Lawrence University. Online seminars usually cost $175, but we are running a promotion starting in July 2025. Use the code 'historyzooms' at check out to get a seminar for $100.
Most of my seminars are online via Zoom. But sometimes I teach on site at Bjorklunden. The in-person class runs for one week. I will post in-person seminars on my site when applicable.
No. But I run highly interactive discussions and I do like seeing people’s faces.
Zoom classes have a maximum of 25 people and a minimum of 5.
I will send information about the books and films, if applicable, before the seminar starts. You are responsible for gaining access to class materials. I will guide you to potential resources. I often use Amazon or the Internet Archive.
I will send out reading or viewing assignments a week before the class.
Bjorklunden offers a rich array of seminars taught by experienced and talented instructors. Most of the seminars are in person. I usually teach in person once a year. For example, I taught 'Postwar Hollywood Masculinity and its Critics' in October 2024.
